GratitudeToday I am grateful for the gathering of friends, the understanding of family, and the abundance of love that comes from realizing just how precious and beautiful life is.

This has never been a day of celebrating a historic moment whether good or bad (based on individual perception), rather it has always been about the gratitude surrounding the idea of unity. When raising my children, we celebrated Thanksgiving as a time of love and togetherness as we were often unable to afford lavish meals and had no familial connections.

Though I am a few states away from my kids, they still made the effort to call me and share our love. We have that loving family bond created from making any day, whether it be a holiday or not, a day to be grateful for.
